Basic Settings Help

i have put in the new 60amp speedy in. i set the throttle/neutral/reverse points as per instructions. when i finish it just goes to full throttle forward, i can trim it out but then i have no throttle or reverse?
i am using fully charged lipo & fresh batteries in the transmitter.
the only thing i can think of is that i may be doing the process the wrong way some how. i have tried a few different ways to no avail.
hoping someone can point out the obvious thing i am missing but cant see cause i been looking at this thing for waaay to long haha
