when i get the honcho back from az and go about rewiring and neatening it all up. which wire should i use to make extensions and y-peices? (just the power wiring for esc &winchs) can i get away with a similar guage automotive wire that i can get easy having access to mechanic workshop or do i need to the rc wire? i dont mind either way just wanna get it right the first time.

Ideally you should use RC wire Ads...But wire is wire...it will work, but probably not for long.
Auto wire doesnt have low enough resistance or flexible enough for RC use.

The gear i use is 14g silicone insulated stuff off ebay: this stuff

You dont really need massive stuff for the winches as they will only draw about 5amps max...22awg should be plenty for that like this.
