Hello From Toowoomba

Post  Jayboy74 on Fri Jun 10, 2011 11:26 am

Good Evening All, I would like to introduce myself, Jason BURROWS is my name and in case you are wondering yes I'm the younger, better looking version of Scott BURROWS @ Aperture.

I am currently shivering away in Toowoomba where i live with my wife and three children.

I have been invovled in Brushless, 2WD buggy driving for about 6 months now after getting into again with my son Matthew (11). My buggy currently can reach speedsd across dirt of about 50-55km/hr, most of the time it spends the first 20m on its back wheels, so its hold on and no steering.

However, when visiting Scott one day he showed me his Scale set up (nearly wrote Crawler, but this is not correct and possibly blasphemis?), i had my reservations then becuase I like speed, and the slowness of the truck only lit a small spark in my belly. Then Scott and I went away to Stanthorpe and well I had a better go around the granite rocks down there, and the fire grew bigger like a Bear Grylls camp, but it was not quite a bonfire yet.

Then Scott made the fatal mistake (fatal only for my wife and credit card) of showing me the videos he made of the latest comp. It was like a jerrycan of petrol on the already burning embers. This was it and several emails to Scott picking his brain for a set-up, trying to work to a budget (Scott wasn't helping!!!) I have ordered my SCX10 Honcho Kit and it is my birthday present for the 26th of this month.

I have now been stalking YouTube with all the different videoson Scale driving and today whilst I'm on Holidays i spent the day doing Recon of possible driving tracks around the Cold mountain.

It's funny when i was first getting into buggy driving i was like a kid with a skateboard looking for places to ride, i was looking for places to drive, dirt tracks, big areas, due to the speed I could get. Now since ordering my kit, I am looking at areas and going too easy, too small, too short, i'm looking fr really tough areas to drive my Honcho when I finish it.

So this is me, and I guess I will post my truck when i have finished it, I have already located a paint job for it, bit of a rip off from another honcho but damn sexy Razz . I will reveal all in good time.

Anyway by all means ask me questions and if you need any goss on Scott i have it however it would appear that he has it on me, so i may have to throw in the gag order. Look forward to meeting you all in up coming drives and learning skills associated with Scale driving. Got to get over the full throttle rocks syndrome. Still may bring the beast to the meets for some throttle jockey fun.

A big welcome to the forum and the scale hobby. It can be very rewarding (especially when a CC01 makes a lot of the trickier areas) and expensive sometimes but it is always fun.

I did try the buggy on some of the areas Scott was taking his Lux through, at Stanthorpe and although it made it up about 50%, i just about fragged the tyres and had to re-do the gearbox becuase it was revving like buggery, "Slow and Steady wins the race." This is my theory now.

Welcome aboard champ!

And slow is not always better!!!!

As you will see, 2 speed transmissions give you the best of both worlds. In particular the summit tx with a good motor, gearing and some 3s lipos and its a case of strap yourself in and hold on!!!

Once your in its kinda like the mafia, its really hard to get out!!!

Anyway hope to catch up around the trails soon.
