Diiferential Protection

Post  Jayboy74 on Mon Jul 18, 2011 9:06 am

OK, just after a few drives the inevitable battle scars are beginning to rear their head. Major scarring is to the bottom of the differentials, and after looking online for replacement housings for same, $70 for one seems a bit bloody steep. So i see that they sell the following:

I can pick up one of these for $17 delivered.

Question:

What do you guys use to protect the diffs if anything and secondly can anyone make these complete like this for cheaper than $17?

{edit} $70 was for a full diff with gears, $18-20 for new housing (AX80003), my mistake, but still might be a better option?

Dont even bother Jay...Save your money.
You dont need to worry about protecting the diffs, I'm still using original housings on my 2.2 comp rig that are well over 2years old and they are fine.

The hang ups those things will cause will piss you off no end.

yea the scx-10 diffs get hung up bad enough with out making any them any lower or bigger.
i got a set of axial housings off tower hobbies recently for a decent price shipped, only cause wehre my c-hubs and lockouts screw in are stuffed and im gonna run axle tubes, the diff casings themselves are heaps beat up but still strong. drive it till they breaks mate, best way to save ya hard earnt lol!

They won't be cheap effective bling when you continuously get them hung up on every lil hump....you'll be swearing & cursing while trying to rip them of in bush-mechanic style.
