Yearly Competitions
OK gang,
I'm hoping not to offend and hoping that people don't think I'm trying to hijack anything here but i have a dream.
I was contemplating that Scale Garage get a bit more serious so to speak on Competitions. So here's my ideas and let's see what sort of reaction i get, and by all means I'm willing to be the Competition Co-ordinator, but it will need your support to help me.
I was thinking that we should have 4 major competitions per year. Once every three months. the beauty of this is we can in advance give dates out so that we can organise other occassions, rosters etc around it and be there. These competitions will be held at 4 different locations for everyone to have achance to host etc. I was thinking about and its not exhaustive and open to debate.
1. Carbrook
2. Slaughter Falss
3. Redbank Quarry
4. Somewhere on the northside?
The finer details will be completed but with each competition there will be points and a ladder is drawn up. Points are added at the end and a winner will emerge, and for the win, we have a shield made up with something like "Scale Garage Trail Winner" and the accolades are that the winner holds the shield for the year and we compete for the title and the next winner gets to posses it etc. Also as another piece for the winner they get something like a medallion as a keepsake or something similar (refer to picture for an idea - again not exhaustive and not the exact design, this is open to debate).
Trophy ideas:
So i can get all the costs etc and when i say costs, its just for the purchase of the shield and little trophies. and it wil mean competitiors may have to throw out a say $10 entry fee to cover costs... which is stuff all really. Also it would be a good idea to make up a comp kit, with teniis ball halves, spray paint, pegs etc, and we can get this via donation so that marking of tracks is easier, again open to debate.
So what do you all reckon, are we all willing to get behind this for a little competitive streak, and of course alot of fun... For it to work we need good numbers and constant competitors, and so far i've seen pretty much the same people turn up for the relevant events, but maybe with plnety of notice we can have a huge turn up, and make it interesting.
Again I'm more than happy to put my time in and do the organising and running around etc. but it won't happen without support..
Anyway i'll leave it open to debate now and see what the general interest is.. my young fellow Matty is going to be joining soon, and Bazuky and Scott B has young up and comers to, so why not give them something to look forward to, boost our membership and make it a calendar event??
OK debate away, thanks for hearing me out.

Im in !!!!!!!!!!!
3 months in between rounds sounds abit long I race a short course rig and thats fortnightly. I would propose one comp every 8 weeks thats would give plenty of time for people to organise their
rosters/days/family stuff. Plus it would keep peoples attention in coming back or bringing other people along who may be interested. By having it every second month there also would be more chance of different winner for the year rather than 1 or 2 competitors going for the championship. You may even have up to 5 drivers looking to Hold the trophy aloft among his competitors.
What rules would you follow ??
Also how cool would it be to have one of the comps in the arvo and leading into the night for those wanting to show off their rigs at night ie ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well thats just my 2 cents worth.

Re: Yearly Competitions
Good point.. my only problem is that being in Toowoomba its hard for me to do regular comps... however... i'm happy to organise but for it to be regular comps, we need people willig to step up and execute the comps in my absence...
And yes night comps are a possibility, as I too am building plastic melting lighting.

Re: Yearly Competitions
Im sure if there are enough people keen we could organise for other people to host the events i'd be keen and maybe even look at doing a location closer to u as one of the rounds for example at the bottom of the range im sure there would be some good trails in the forestry.
Once more number are confirmed then maybe a sit down meeting in january might have to be organised.

Re: Yearly Competitions
I have two really good areas to drive, one is up the range and is about 10 times harder than Slaughter Falls, and there is a creek I'm just trying to find a quarry.. however in saying that I'm happy to travel as i like to do it, and i don't expect you guys to travel that far.
We'll see what the rest of the masses say and somewhere through the debate we'll find a nice happy median and hopefully a good competition to rival the best so far.

Yeh good luck with the "every 8 wks" the reason is it's been tried and hasn't worked in the past.
I like Jas timing better for the comps even then it will be hard getting enough to attend.
That's my two cents worth........cheers
