OK the time has come to replace the speedy as the LNC one is starting to do weird things (on full acceleration it will stall the motor on flat ground). Have been looking at a few options but what I require are as follows:

Needs to handle at least 3s but 4s would be better
Brushed setup but brushless option would be great (sensored would be better)
I have an external BEC so internal doesn't matter at all
Quiet operation would be an added bonus

With those options in mind I have been looking at the Castle Mamba Max Pro (most expensive option but has everything I need), Sidewinder SV2/HPI Vapor (3s only), Mamba Micro Pro (3s only but nice and small), HH BRXL (brushed only and very hard to find) and Tekin FXR (3s and brushed only, tiny and silent). Tried looking into the Novak's but was getting very confused very quickly with their website.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't really want to spend a fortune on it but want something decent to run a 35-55T brushed motor to start with with the possibilty of brushless down the track

Ok so I ended up getting a HPI Q-Base (Mamba Max Pro in HPI clothing) which can handle upto 6s apparently but will be using 2s to start with and maybe upgrade my packs to 3s down the track. I also got the castle link as well so I can program it and an Epic Trinity 35T motor so hopefully more wheel speed.

Is yours the brushless and if so is it sensored. The one I got is a brushed motor but is rebuildable so should be good. Haven't had a chance to install it yet but was wondering if I still need to use my CCBEC with this speedy. Got it all programed in now with the huge crawler brake (213%) so should be good to go. Will install it tomorrow morning and give her a quick test run. Very Happy

You chose wisey, the MMP does everything you wanted and then some, plus castle's support is 2nd to none.
Yeah Adam's is sensored brushless. I would still use an external BEC, but see how you go. Once you run 3s and above with a decent servo you'll find that the external BEC will be needed.

Whats your thoughts on this motor Troy. http://www.trinityrc.net/shop/index.php?route=product/product&path=72_114&product_id=319

Also what would be a good sensored brushless motor to run in 3s or 4s.

I haven't got much experience with those new speed gems. They're still machine wound, but they're using a new magnet thats pretty good allegedly.

Team brood and Holmes both have their hand wounds out using that tear down which would be a better option. Check out the Holmes Trailmaster Pro, or the Brood Chaos, both are based off the speed gems teardown.
If you don't want to drop $60 on a motor, have a look at the Brood or Holmes machine wound. Less $$$, but still better than the stuff that the 'big' manufacturers put out (because Holmes and Brood can cherry pick the best of the worst in the machine wound stuff)
