According to the rules digs are not allowed but it really depends on the day and the organisers.

At the moment ..yes they are allowed, but we are discussing new Scale rules right now and i personally don't want dig to be used.
Stika myself and obviously you are the only ones with dig,so it is not fair or competitive for only a few with it.
Also this is Scale trail runs that don't need to use dig as the course's are'nt that difficult to drive and in most cases to expensive to fit.

P.S.......I would like everyone to please comment on this subject to get the general thoughts from others.

A dig is a unit used to cut drive from the front of rear axle (think twin sticks on your transfer case in a full size fourby).
In RC crawlers they are generally used in the rear only, and can be used to either freewheel the rear (front drive only) or to lock the rear axle. By locking the rear axle and still driving the fronts you can pretty much pivot around the inside tyre to cut really tight turns.

Basically they allow you to disengage from 4wd to fwd or fwd and rear locked (increases your turning radius). It also depending on which direction your trans is facing you could have 4wd 2wd and front locked for ripping big skids for all you logan boys Wink

Im easy either way and that goes for the digs as well..

I wouldn't mind either way, dig or no dig in scale. My build will not have dig, but I'm not fussed if other people run it. Run what ya brung. If it shows that dig is proving to be a too big of an advantange then maybe it needs to get re-assessed.

Just my humble opinion...

Scale should be just that. no additional tricks and everyone plays on an even plane. it should be all about driver capability and skill and how you set your truck up. this forum is all about those who play with scale and trail, not crawling tech.

I thought scale was scale... scale of 1:1

Any car with a centre diff lock and a good hand brake (most modern cars) can do a front dig.... these cars do not have to be moddified from what they come off the show room floor.

Digs will be and are a huge advantage to anyone that runs them.

I don't have a problem if we have dig or not... the QRock rule discussion groupd are currently discussing dig for the 2011 rounds of Qrock

One problem i see with digs is it makes the videos' very ordanary and jerky, have a look at the Interstate title 2.2 video... They become very boring to watch.

Thats right what Stika has written..what is scale then?....what are we talking about here Aperture,so you may have to clarify what you want us to talk about mate.What......so we can't speak of anything other than "true scale" "off the showroom floor scale"".......i'm confused, sorry.

So mabe the QRock thread does not belong on this forum.... after all QRock started out as a 1:1 rock crawling event that i was involved in running prior to turning it is a radio controlled rock crawling event.

Ok, i'm confused now.... "True scale" I thought this meant that what you see existing as 1:1 can be built as 1/10?

plus isnt this thread About Qrock? Which to date is the ONLY event to offer a scale class in QLD... I think the thread belongs here as most of us, if not all, go for scale and trail socials together.....

Q Rock discussions definitely belong here at the garage. most guys do both scale and crawling so a little cross over discussion is cool. what i was trying to say is that i did not want discussions about crawling to dominate any one area of the site. we all enjoy scale and going on social drives together and so therefor we should chat about mostly scale and our trail stuff including comps that have scale as part of the event.

i did not want to offend anyone, just wanted to try and keep the intent of the forum and that is everything scale.

Very Happy

We have only ever run scale once at a Qrock event with any success, i have been aproached on a number of occasions to run scale and we never had the numbers to make it worth while.

There will be a rule in next years Qrock rules that states 'if there are not aleast 5 cars pre registered on the friday evening prior to the event, for a class, then that class will not run.

One rule i have been thinking of adding to the Qrock rules in relation to scale is;
"you must produce a picture of the vehicle you have scale your vehicle from"
