Winch Truck Build
well here is a run down of where my truck is currently at, whats on it, whats going on it and whats left to be built. it may take a couple of beers to read, i no i coulda down with a couple typing and thinking of whats on the truck.
started off with a honcho kit slightly modified on build up with the following:
Axial heavy duty diff gears front and rear
Axial Aluminum Knuckle
Axial Aluminum C Hub Carrier on the front with
Axial AX10 Competition Universal Joint Drive Shaft Set
ST Racing Concepts ax10 aluminium axle lockout & axle set on the rear
Dinky RC Axial AX10/SCX10 1-piece Truss Link (true 4link)
Axial Steel Outdrives
Junfac Carbon Steel Drivshafts
Hand Brothers CMS Kit
was running a 7955tg hitec servo and alloy horn but with the wet weather ive gone back to my multiple cheapo toward pro946r and plastic servo.
Hot Racing aluminum shock hoops
18.5t Novak Goat 3s brushless Motor/ESC combo
2200mah 3s lipo
currently standard losi tx and rx.
2 sets of standard axial rims, one running weighted tsl super swampers
the other running wieghted flat irons.
Accesories(thanks cliff) - tow/snatch strap, trunk protector, snatch block and ground anchor.
i finally painted the spare shell metallic green last night unsure of how its turned out, but i got excuses if its $#ithouse.
thats the current set up and got it up and running.
bits i have to go on.
Twin motor modified 3racing winch, with king kong hook & running seperate power source, should be installed and functional for the qurry sundy.
Parts im waiting on that are either, waiting for stock, are in transit or otherwise(wish list):
Proline 95mm shocks(stock)
Hot Racing Tranny Hard Anodizing Alum. Center Gear set(stock)
RC4WD 4ch transmitter receiver(transit)
More 3s lipos(transit)
Rear Modified 3 racing winch(need to build my custom tray and buy the winchs)
Custom SkR8Pn links uppers and lowers rear and same again with panhard rod up front.(hopefully in transit cant wait for them to rock up)
MSD QuickSand High Mount Winch(tryin to source one is a B1TC#)
Bits for me to build:
Front winch bar (maybe joined by brushbars into)
Sliders
Rear Tube tray with rear winch mount.
Thats all i can think of at the moment, apart from tidying up and waterproofing my electrics when its closer to finished.
cheers ads
THese are the only shots ive got so far.

Re: Winch Truck Build
upgraded the winch cable to white line marking string to look like the white plasma that was very common at the last round of winch comp out at cruiser, wired up the winch through a speedy (will be 3s powered soon enough) and my new RC4WD 4ch transmitter turned up today and is workin sweet. also found out that one of the grub screws come lose on the spool on the winch out at the quarry sundy, so it was powering 2 motors but only one was attatched to the spool still pulled sweet tho, so i sorted that out and all tight now.

Re: Winch Truck Build
fitted the custom upper front link and upper rear links thanks to skr8pn, look the goods, got them cut down to the right length and tapped out. got the flat irons back on while the swamper foams dry out (popped a couple of bads this arvo) now running braid winch line as well.
there are more balloons than a kids birthday party being used as temporary water resisting with the wet weather, will go more permanent when i have sorted out whats going where with the electrics.
also have set up the hold brake properly(finally)
hopefully get some good snaps with aperture tomoro arvo at whites hill.

Re: Winch Truck Build
im thinkin the rearward bracing, from the outside of the "hi level stop light" to the corners at the back end of the tray not the outer corners, if that makes sense.

i'll have a look at it & definately not the outside corners
it just doesnt look right .
i was also thinking my old 80'series but its to much weight at the back
especially with ya batts back there aswell

yea cheers heaps az, the slider looked mint at the quarry, its all coming along nicely mate. the tray is looking good too mate so its cool for ya to keep doing what your doing, seems to be workin out real well.
with the battery set up you've sorted i should hopefully be able to run an electrics box like scottys? so i can go swimming too question scott. you chassis is an scx10 isnt it? does the sealed box u got form jaycar sit inside the rails in the back?
cheers again ads
