Re: Lipo battery
From my understanding the C rate is the discharge rate so the higher the number the more amps can be drawn from it. I'm sure Troy will come on and give you a full proper explanation.

Re: Lipo battery

Re: Lipo battery
You lot are on the money, it's the discharge rate.
To work it out you take the 'C' rating and times in by the capacity in Amp hours.
So for an example you've got a 5000mah, 25c lipo pack. With some simple maths we get the constant amp capacity.
5000mAh/1000= 5Ah
5Ah X 25= 125amps
The one you want to pay the most attention to is the constant rating. The burst figures (the 2nd higher C rating) in my opinion don't matter too much. You want to pick the highest C rating you can afford, it's not going to hurt anything it just means you'll have the amps in reserve to use if you need em.

Re: Lipo battery
but realisticly for crawling your not goint to be drawing 125amps @ 11.1v verry often are you? considering most blokes start off with about a 60amp esc? wouldnt that be the limiting factor?

Re: Lipo battery
You would be surprised what a crawler will draw in a bind. I've seen amp spikes over 100amps in bind. Homles Hobbies has reported even bigger spikes with some of his super motors.
On average just cruising around a crawler will usually draw less than 10amps.
The main thing i find is if you're use a high C rated pack, they can last longer and provide better power due to less voltage sag under load.
