Re: motor wont start
It could be a few different things. Starting at just being dirty, a hung brush, worn comm & brushes. Worst case it could be an open coil on one of the arm segments.
First things first pick up some electric contact cleaner and give the motor a good clean out. Spray the shite out of it until the contact cleaner runs clear out the opposite end that you're spraying from. Let it dry and then oil the bushes/bearings, and see how you go.
If it's not fixed after that these are your options.
If it's a sealed silver can style motor, bin it and buy a new one. If it's a rebuildable, get it rebuilt and see if that fixes it. Still no worky after, that you'd be up for a new motor.

I haven't rebuilt one in a long time,
if by chance it needs brushes do most hobby shops cut coms, or do I need to buy a lathe?

Sorry fellas, I've been working 6 days and i'm on-call after hours at the moment, along with trying to argue with insurance and banks.... Hadn't time to actually sleep neve mind anything else.
But yeah as Scotty said, i've got all the gear to build/rebuild motors if you need to..... Except a proper dyno.

I acuatly wondering if part of the problem could be running a axial vanguard speedy with the 19t motor?

Re: motor wont start
Not sure if the vanguard runs brushed motors, haven't had any experience with them. It might be like the Castle Sidewinder and is default brushless, if you want to change to run brushed it needs the settings changed in using Castle Link.
But if it is in brushless mode (or brushless only), then that would explain it.
Brushless esc's don't like brushed motors unless you can change the esc settings to suit.
EDIT: I found the manual for the AE-3, it does run Brushed. But you need to program it with Castle Link and a computer to get it to work properly. Once you set it up to brushed reversing. Positive from the motor goes plug A on the esc and Neg on the motor goes to plug C on the esc.
They've written if off for a reasonable amount, just waiting for the final paper work and settlement now... I think the waiting is the worst.
Least the bank #### is sorted. So going to look at, and hopefully buy a new (2nd hand) car monday....

Re: motor wont start
If it's the AE-2, it's brushed only and shouldn't be an issue.
