I'm using a 9500 bulldog, had it going for about the last 6 months or so with no problems. Apart from some of the screws loosening themselves and coming out of the caseing. It was probably my fault anyway for pulling it apart just after i bought it and didn;t thread lock them Rolling Eyes

I am currently using a remote 3 racing winch powered by a small nmhi battery mounted under the bonnet. the screws have come out but have fixed that with thread lock ( blue ). also have replaced the wire on the drum with 60lb braided line to give a scale plasma rope look + i fit about 2m of line on their as well.

dont have any probs with the remote use vs separate channel on the control. personal preference really as to how you like to operate things.

I was looking at getting the RC4WD 9300XT winch (http://store.rc4wd.com/Bulldog-9300XT-Scale-Winch-Gun-Metal-_p_1087.html) and was wondering if anyone has had experience with these. Also from my understanding these ones are very similar to the 9500XT just using a brushed motor instead of the brushless.

I'm using the 3racing winch Brett, but with a speed controller instead of the little unit it comes with so i can run it off 11.1v.
Using the 3rd channel of the DX3R to control it, works like a charm and can pick my honcho up off the ground no worries.

You would be correct sir, they are the same but with a brushed motor & the control unit that goes with it. Thats the only difference.

I've got it running through the gear channel on the 6i with some channel mixing so the gear switch is out and i think flap switch is in. I'll have to check when i get home. It's pretty easy to setup. I've gott he dig setup for the losi done the same way. Also my winch is the 9300... the brushed one (i forgot which one was wich alst night).

Just a cheap one of ebay.It was like $20 or something.
It doesnt need to be 3s compatible as the winches only draw like 2amps at stall. So just get a cheap speedy and wire it up. Only thing with the one im using is you have to double tap to get it to wind in (brake/reverse speedy)

AH ha...there is a way to do it with the DX3S, take a little while to learn, but once you've learnt to do it, its 2nd nature..

hope this helps someone out. this should allow me to run my front mount winch through the third channel as per the norm and still allow me to control the rear winch through the controller aswell, this gives me more options other than the bulldog wireless winch.

my only suggestion with this concept is that you lose the ability to steer when winching and that can have an affect on your chances of getting out of something or not.

Already thought of Scott lol

yeah it isn't ideal but it is a good cost effective way for someone who wants a winch for playin or to enter potential winch comps / teams events.

This will only be used for my rear winch for decents, self recovery etc where steering is of way less importance than the front mount.

yea, i think i have got around the issue of running 2 seperate winches with out losing steering. i have 2 options i think. one is easier and and a little more exy. the other is cheaper but still should work well.

no point starting a new thread. was just wandering what people are using as winch lines & how strong is it Question i managed to snap supposed "50"lb braid yesterday winching at the end with jarrod scratch there is still probly 40 odd meters left, i might go with az's idea and give platting it together so its triple strength & see how thick it ends up. but i thought id just ask the question for other ideas

Just run bigger braid Ads...i've got some 100lbs #### that i'm yet to break.
I've even rubbed it on a rock to try and make it fray and then break, it frayed but didnt break for a while.
